This is not gonna be a late way to publish a long overdue review, but me hailing one of those acts that made 2016 a very special and amazing year for me. Somewhere between Johnny Cash and Andrew Eldritch, King Dude himself is a contemporary version of the Man in Black.
Released on October 28, 2016 via Ván Records (Europe) and Not Just Religious Music (North America), “Sex” follows the tradition of unexpected divination through the good lord Lucifer, the King challenges the listener to explore the theme of sexuality through nothing other than rock n’ roll of course. Though this record will not be on my daily rotation, my first ever live encounter with the Dude (since there is only one King, Elvis Presley, I refrain from using the title here) at this years’ Acherontic Arts Festival, left me craving for more!
If you enjoy listening to “Sex” you will love King Dude live! Acoustic orgasms guaranteed! A full review is available at CVLT Nation, full album stream and international webshop via bandcamp and for anyone in Europe, you may place your order of sexual innuendo at Ván Records. And even though “Sex” is not my very favourite album of the year, it most certainly has one of the sexiest covers of 2016 – and this goddamn sexy voice of T.J. Cowgill!
